Early Childhood
From birth to six years of age, this is the phase of life know as early childhood. During this period, a child's experiences, the discoveries she makes and the love she receives will leave impressions that will last for the rest of her life.
Importance
It’s simple: an early childhood full of care, love, stimulation, and interaction will pave the way for a child to take full advantage of all of his potentials and become a healthy, balanced adult. And a society that recognizes this will flourish.
Many obstacles still separate Brazilian children from a scenario where all of them can develop their full potential and receive the affection they need. These are obstacles - new and old - that permeate socioeconomic and educational areas as well as those involving health or public policies. The challenges begin right at birth, with the infant mortality rate increasing for the first time in more than 15 years [1]. And the risks continue. The risk of being exposed to violence early in life. The challenge of getting a spot at the daycare center, since, among the most vulnerable children, only 26% have access to one [2].
