Importance

It’s simple: an early childhood full of care, love, stimulation, and interaction will pave the way for a child to take full advantage of all of his potentials and become a healthy, balanced adult. And a society that recognizes this will flourish.

Challenges

Many obstacles still separate Brazilian children from a scenario where all of them can develop their full potential and receive the affection they need. These are obstacles - new and old - that permeate socioeconomic and educational areas as well as those involving health or public policies.

The challenges begin right at birth, with the infant mortality rate increasing for the first time in more than 15 years [1]. And the risks continue.

The risk of being exposed to violence early in life. The challenge of getting a spot at the daycare center, since, among the most vulnerable children, only 26% have access to one [2].

Or even the challenge of being hampered by public policies that do not place children up to 6 years old as a priority.

These are barriers that, along with our network, we intend to keep breaking in our work for early childhood.
